What inspired your interest in Planetary Health?
As a resident of Howard County, I have observed rapid changes to our environment that have impacted habitats, water quantity and quality, and the availability of "natural" spaces. Our community is full of active citizens and we aim to preserve green spaces and wildlife daily through cleanups, restoration projects, and advocacy.
Tell us about your Planetary Health work at JHU
At Johns Hopkins I studied food systems, environmental health, and quantitative research. Through Environmental Health and Engineering at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, I developed skills and interests that apply directly to One Health and One Water.
What excites you about the future of Planetary Health?
I am most excited about citizen science. A high number of motivated individuals can produce the greatest impact on our rural and urban environments by generating and communicating data that reveal the significance of preservation and restoration.
